Trifork LogoDear reader,

A lot happened end of January and this month! Trifork hosted the latest Fronteers Meetup and powered a Core Spring Course and iOS 7 training. In the meantime our partner elasticsearch released its first commercial product and version 1.0.0. Many other events, trainings and projects are coming ahead. Enjoy reading!

New releases: Elasticsearch released the version 1.0.0 and launched Marvel

Elasticsearch, the company famous for their fantastic search solution, released their much anticipated flag ship product elasticsearch in the 1.0 version. This is the first version that contains enough functionality to be called feature complete. The new snapshot restore functionality introduces a backup strategy.
The other release is Marvel, a commercial product that helps you to monitor your cluster in a production environment. Besides the core search engine, the elasticsearch ELK stack consists of Logstash and Kibana. This ELK stack opens up all your logs and other analytical data to users using the generic integration tool Logstash and present it in nice graphs and tables using Kibana.

Elasticsearch counts big names among its users: Facebook, Yelp, Verizon, Foursquare, GitHub, Associated Press, SoundCloud, and McGraw-Hill. Elasticsearch provides for them high-performance end-user search experience for music, video source code and other content websites. ELK stack records almost half a million downloads per month in average.

Core Spring Course
The first week of February we had the Core Spring Source at Trifork Amsterdam. This is the original course which prepares you for the official Springsource certified developer exam. The trainer, Joris Kuipers, is a former Springsource employee who also participated in the elaboration of the genuine training material. The course was very well welcomed; new sessions of this course are scheduled in April, June, September and November. Click here for the dates and the full Program

Customer success stories

Hogeschool van Amsterdam – CMS
The Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) runs a large number of websites and subsites, using up to 20 different systems. Ranging from plain html files in Apache, several WordPress instances, Sharepoint to Roxen. The maintenance and security of these systems represented a too large amount of work for the organisation, there were also serious limits to the usability of and possibilities of online communication. As HvA is cooperating with the University of Amsterdam (UvA) the choice was made to bring all websites to the CMS (content management system) Hippo. Trifork is currently implementing the main site (hva.nl) reusing most of the solutions already developed for the UvA. The websites must be responsive and accessible, where the UvA sites are not. The HvA is happy with the results so far, with the first sites in production within 2 months.
